+ How it works

Your treatment, step by step

From the first assessment to your return home, a member of the Thecaretrip team supports you at every stage — no surprises, with timescales and costs explained before you decide.

Remote assessment and video call

You send your panoramic X-ray and a few photographs of your smile. The medical team assesses your case and, on a video call, Thecaretrip explains the options, the stages, the timescales and the quote — before you make any decision.

Travel, accommodation and transfers

We set the dates together and organise all the logistics: we recommend and book partner hotels a few minutes from the clinic and arrange transfers from Porto airport.

Questions about travel and support

See all frequently asked questions.

How many trips to Porto will I need? +
It depends on the treatment. For implants with a final prosthesis fitted after healing, two short trips are usually needed: one for the surgery and the fitting of the temporary solution, and another, a few months later, for the final prosthesis. The schedule is always set according to your case.
Where will I stay and how do I get to the clinic? +
We can recommend and book hotels close to the clinic. The transfers included in your plan are organised by our team, so you do not have to worry about the logistics. Before you travel, you receive all the practical information you need.
Who supports me during the trip and the treatment? +
A member of the Thecaretrip team supports you before, during and after your stay in Porto. We help you prepare your file, communicate with the medical team, organise your trip and follow up after you return home.
Is it safe to fly after surgery? +
For most treatments, patients can fly home the following day, after the follow-up appointment and once the medical team has given the go-ahead. For more complex surgery, such as the placement of zygomatic implants, you may be advised to stay in Porto for about five days, for in-person follow-up before returning home.
What happens if I have a problem after I get home? +
We stay in close contact in the weeks after your return. If you have any questions or discomfort, we coordinate with the medical team in Porto and, if necessary, advise on next steps with a trusted dentist near you.
How does payment work? +
Payment is made directly to the clinic and follows the different stages of the treatment. Before you confirm, you receive a detailed quote with the costs, the planned procedures and the payment schedule — no hidden costs, with the option of spreading payment between the surgical stage and the final prosthesis stage.
