Full-arch fixed teeth on implants
If you have lost all the teeth in one arch, wear a removable denture or have teeth that can no longer be saved, a fixed solution supported by implants may be possible.
Depending on the medical assessment, the plan may use four or six implants, other configurations or techniques for cases where bone is lacking. We explain what is possible in your case before you make a decision.
When might a fixed restoration make sense?
Whether it is suitable depends on the condition of your teeth, your general health and your scans. This page may be relevant if:

A fixed prosthesis supported by implants, planned for you
The implants support a prosthesis that replaces the teeth in one arch. The number, position and type of implants depend on your anatomy, your existing teeth, your bite and the prosthetic work planned. The plan can also cover both arches.
All-on-4
The prosthesis is fixed on four implants. It is the best option where there is significant bone loss in the molar area, because it allows implants to be placed without bone grafts, sparing you an additional procedure, its cost and the healing time it requires.
All-on-6 and other configurations
The prosthesis is fixed on six implants or in another arrangement. It is a good option when bone is evenly distributed along the jaw.
When bone is lacking
Techniques such as bone regeneration, sinus lift or implants with alternative anchorage, including pterygoid, zygomatic or trans-sinus implants, may be considered. Only an individual assessment can tell whether any of them is suitable in your case.
What if you still have healthy teeth? An arch is never extracted simply to apply an implant protocol. When some teeth can be kept, the team may propose a combined plan — see the solutions for several missing teeth when the restoration is partial.
Temporary teeth and final teeth are different phases
First phase — surgery and a temporary solution, if indicated
In the treatments we support, the usual pathway is to fit a fixed temporary prosthesis on the day of surgery. This means you return from your first stay with fixed teeth while the implants heal. The medical team confirms this plan for your case and explains any changes that may be needed.
Second phase — final prosthesis
After healing, usually 4 to 6 months, you come back for new impressions, try-ins and the fitting of the final prosthesis. Final solutions in titanium-reinforced acrylic or in zirconia may be considered, depending on the prosthetic indication and your priorities.
How the treatment works
There is usually one stay for the surgical phase and another for the final prosthesis. Complex surgery, preparatory treatment or complications may change the schedule; we explain your individual pathway before you book your trip.
Remote assessment
Send us a recent panoramic X-ray and photos of your teeth and smile. If you do not yet have a panoramic X-ray, we can send you a referral to have one taken near you. The medical team reviews what you send and we give you a plan and quote remotely, with the procedures planned and the relevant options. You can contact us and have your questions answered before you decide.
Clinical preparation
Once you have approved the quote, you have a video call with Dr Ana Leitão to review your health, medication, conditions and allergies, answer clinical questions and start preparing your treatment, even before you travel to Portugal.
Consultation and final preparations
During your treatment stay, the team confirms the final details at an in-person consultation, carries out any additional scans needed and takes the records to prepare your new teeth. They explain the medication prescribed and the care needed before and after surgery. If you wish, you can come for an in-person consultation earlier, but you do not need one to receive your first quote.
Implants and temporary teeth
The implants are placed. In the vast majority of cases, a temporary prosthesis is fixed on the same day, so you go home with fixed teeth while you heal.
Healing and follow-up
The implants need a period to integrate with the bone. The team follows your progress and tells you how to care for them at home.
Final prosthesis
After healing, the impressions, try-ins and adjustments needed are carried out before the final prosthesis is fitted. The usual interval is around 4 to 6 months, and it may vary from case to case.
Maintenance and support
Our support does not end when the treatment is finished. If a problem arises after you return home, contact us so that the clinical team can advise on the next steps.
