An implant that replaces the root, a crown that replaces the tooth
Titanium implant
A small titanium screw, inserted into the jawbone, replaces the root of the lost tooth. Titanium is the material of choice in dentistry thanks to its high strength and excellent tolerance by the body.
Zirconia crown
The final crown is custom-designed in zirconia, combining strength, function and a natural appearance.
Immediate loading when indicated
Whenever the primary stability of the implant allows, a fixed temporary crown can be fitted on the day of surgery. This technique is used mainly for the front teeth, for aesthetic reasons. For the back (posterior) teeth, when replaced individually, the normal healing period is preferred to protect the implant from chewing forces.
How this treatment works
In the vast majority of cases, the treatment takes place in two stages and requires two stays in Porto. The interval between them is set according to your case but, with a few exceptions, a period of 4 to 6 months is sufficient.
Initial remote assessment
The medical team reviews your panoramic X-ray, photos and medical history to make an initial assessment. When necessary, they may request a CBCT scan to study the available bone in more detail.
Treatment plan and quote
A free video call in which our team presents the treatment plan, timescales and costs in detail. Ask any questions you have before making any decision.
Implant placement surgery
The implant is placed under local anaesthesia. When indicated, a temporary crown is fitted on the same day to fill the gap.
Osseointegration
A period of 4 to 6 months during which the implant integrates with the bone. The team follows your progress remotely.
Fitting the final crown
A second short stay for the impressions and the fitting of the final zirconia crown.
