Two ways to improve your smile
Porcelain veneers
They are custom-made in a laboratory from E.max or feldspathic porcelain. We lightly prepare the teeth where necessary, take a digital scan and fit temporary veneers while the final ones are being made.
Porcelain can reproduce the way light passes through teeth and their different shades, creating a very natural look. It is strong and keeps its colour and shine better over time.
Composite veneers
The dentist applies the composite directly to the teeth and shapes it until the desired shape and colour are achieved. The work is usually done in a single session.
It is a quicker and more affordable option, which may require little or no preparation of the teeth. It also allows adjustments and repairs to be made easily.
Which should you choose? The best option depends on your teeth, the result you are looking for and how much you wish to invest. We show you both possibilities before you decide.
Do the teeth need to be filed down?
It depends on your case.
Sometimes the surface of the teeth needs to be lightly prepared so that the veneers fit well and look as intended. In other cases, this preparation may be minimal or not needed at all.
Before we begin, we explain which teeth need preparation and what will be done. With porcelain, we fit temporary veneers to protect the teeth until the final ones are ready.
How the treatment works
Plan and quote
Send us photos of your smile and of the teeth you would like to improve. The team carries out a first remote assessment and presents the proposed solution, a quote before you book your trip and an indication of the time needed in Portugal. If an examination is needed to clarify your case, we will tell you which one.
Preparing your trip
Once you approve the plan, we organise your appointments according to the chosen material and the number of teeth to be treated.
Appointment in Porto
We assess your teeth, gums and bite in person. We talk with you about the colour and shape you would like and confirm the final details before we begin.
Composite treatment
If this is the option chosen, the dentist applies and shapes the composite directly on the teeth. At the end, they check the shape, colour and bite and make any necessary adjustments. The work is usually done on the same day; we recommend allowing for a 2-day stay.
Porcelain treatment
If you choose porcelain veneers, we prepare the teeth where necessary and take a digital scan. We fit temporary veneers to protect the teeth while the laboratory makes the final ones.
Fitting the porcelain
We try in the final veneers and check their shape, colour, fit and bite. Once you have confirmed the result with us, they are bonded to the teeth and we make the final adjustments.
